What are the current criteria used for diagnosis of ASIA?
We have published the criteria and classified it as we do usually with different autoimmune diseases, namely into major criteria and minor criteria. Major criteria include clinical manifestations such as severe fatigue, poor sleep, myalgia and arthralgia; the minor criteria include the presence of various autoantibodies and specific HLA (e.g., DRB1). However, as I mentioned before, over the years many of these patients may go on to develop a more well-defined autoimmune disease. For instance, if they develop scleroderma or systemic sclerosis, they will suffer from tight skin, complications of the lungs, kidneys, and so forth.

- 大基準 重度の疲労感、睡眠障害、筋肉痛、関節痛
- 小基準 自己抗体の存在、特異的なHLA（DRB1など）
ただし、このような症状を呈する人が、強皮症、全身性強皮症などの自己免疫疾患へ進展することが往々にしてある、とのことです。

Suggested criteria for the diagnosis of ‘ASIA’.
Major Criteria:
Exposure to an external stimuli (Infection, vaccine, silicone, adjuvant) prior to clinical manifestations.
The appearance of ’typical’ clinical manifestations:
- Myalgia, Myositis or muscle weakness
- Arthralgia and/or arthritis
- Chronic fatigue, un-refreshing sleep or sleep disturbances
- Neurological manifestations (especially associated with demyelination)
- Cognitive impairment, memory loss
- Pyrexia, dry mouth
Removal of inciting agent induces improvement
Typical biopsy of involved organs
Minor Criteria:
The appearance of autoantibodies or antibodies directed at the suspected adjuvant
Other clinical manifestations (i.e. irritable bowel syn.)
Specific HLA (i.e. HLA DRB1, HLA DQB1)
Evolvement of an autoimmune disease (i.e. MS, SSc)
